Formula of Weight Watchers Daily Points Plus Allowance
Daily allowance overview
Another change from the original point plan to the Plus Method is the daily allowance. Many people are concerned that because of the higher point values for many foods, they will not have enough to eat to feel full.
But don't worry, another change in this system is the daily dose. The details of how to calculate the daily dose are long and complicated and will be explained in detail in this article. For now, I will only discuss the daily allowance.
First, as with the old system, there is a minimum and maximum score. The minimum score is 26, and the maximum score is 71.
Regardless of what your old per diem was, it will not be less than 26 and not more than 71 with the Plus Plan.
The new calculation uses the same factors - gender, age, weight and height. However, it is not as simple as the old method where you add points based on answers to your age, weight, etc.
Just know that these variables also play a role in determining your new allowance.
Another question many ask is if they need to use up all their points for the day. Well, according to my Weight Watchers guide, that is not the case.
So if you have 35 points for the day and only use 32, that's fine. Just make sure you don't go hungry. Remember that the points are there for you when you need them.
While the allowance is relatively easy to figure out in meetings or online, the formula itself is a bit more complicated, to say the least.
